Aus den Veränderungen in Gesellschaft, Sozialstaat, Kirche und im Verband erwachsen vielfältige ethische Fragen für die Arbeit im Gesundheits- und Sozialwesen. Eine Inspiration und Refelexion, die unmittelbar bei diesen ethischen Fragen ansetzt, ist von grundlegender Bedeutung für die tägliche Arbeit in Krankenhäusern, Altenheimen und ambulanten Diensten.

Cursus Ethiek van gezondheid en zorg 2012
In deze cursus wordt een overzicht geboden van een aantal actuele thema’s in de gezondheidsethiek. Centrale vraag is hoe filosofische theorieën en benaderingen kunnen helpen bij het omgaan met ethische vragen in de zorg. Voor onderzoekers in de gezondheidszorg biedt de cursus de mogelijkheid kennis te maken met filosofie en ethiek, voor filosofisch geschoolde onderzoekers biedt de cursus zicht op een belangrijk toepassingsgebied met eigen vragen en discussies.

Either if you are native in the Netherlands or chose it as a temporary home, it has great benefits to know the Dutch ethical landscape. Knowing the current ethical landscape, e.g. enables you to connect to the right persons in case you want specific comments on parts of your PhD-thesis or helps you to establish new links to pursuit an academic career. Having knowledge of the ways in which ethics as a field of research developed historically in the Netherlands, will increase awareness about the way in which research is conducted. Our focus and methodology is perhaps less self-evident than we may sometimes tend to think.

Was ist eine ethische Frage? Vom Einzelfall zur Organisationsethik
Das Forum Ethik in der Caritas bietet seit 2009 die Möglichkeit, sich über ethische Fragestellungen zu informieren und auszutauschen, die eigene Arbeit in Ethikkomitees, als Ethikbeauftragte oder den eigenen Umgang mit ethischen Fragestellungen zu reflektieren und unterstützende Netzwerke zu bilden. Neben gesprächsanregenden fachlichen Impulsen ist Raum für die Vorstellung eigener Projekte und ein offenes Forum zur Diskussion von eigenen Themen und Fragen.

Intensive European Bioethics Course “Human Genetics and Medical Technology”
During the course we will study the relation between technology and (medical) ethics. Focus of the course are the moral problems generated by the research and development and application of new knowledge in a range of emerging fields such as tissue engineering and genomics. The implications give rise to new images of the human being and shift common understanding of health and disease.
Topics are, amongst others, screening and testing from clinical perspective, Health Technology Assessment, translational medicine and storage and analysis of (genetic) data. Lecturers include: prof. Evert van Leeuwen, Simone van der Burg PhD, Ineke van der Burgt MD, PhD, prof. Gert Jan van der Wilt, Conor Douglas PhD, Martin Boeckhout MA, MSc.

In 2009 is in het St. Elisabeth ziekenhuis in Tilburg het programma menslievende zorg gestart. Het doel is om binnen vijf jaar het liefste ziekenhuis van Nederland te worden. Dat is niet alleen een kwestie van extra service of aandacht, maar raakt de essentie van het verlenen van zorg. De kern voor ons is de relationele sturing van de zorg door patiënt en zorgverlener.

Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics
The Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics programme originated in 2000 and is jointly organized by the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen (The Netherlands) and the Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy). The main objective of this programme is to train highly qualified students for research work or professional activities in the interdisciplinary field of bioethics, a field that is increasingly confronted with different moral questions and dilemmas. It approaches bioethics from an international perspective, with special attention to European philosophical traditions in this area.
