Bioethical Commission of the Research and Development Council/ výzkum a vývoj

Bioethical Commission represents an expert and advisory body associated to the R&D Council. It was established by this Council in 1997 as a group of experts. Its position is decribed in the Statute of the Bioethical Commission.

The role of the Bioethical Commission is to elaborate the information basis and all the materials for the needs of the R&D Council which presents its suggestions concerning bioethical aspects of the research and development in the field of modern biology and medicine. This is mainly the question of moral and legal aspects of the investigation of human genome, genetically modified organisms, genetical testing and therapy and also experiments dealing with in vitro fertilisation, transplantation of the fethal tissue, xenotransplantations, genome patent applications and many others. In regards to the Act No. 227/2006 Coll. on Research on Human Embryonic Stem Cells and Related Activities and on Amendment to Some Related Acts, going into effect, a new Bioethical Commission of the Research and Development Council was founded in September 2006.
